Emissions sensitive projects and Air Quality Management Districts

The harmful effects of air pollution on communities are recognized in the U.S. and many regions globally.  Local environmental rules are becoming more stringent as a result. Compliance with these local air quality regulations and minimizing emissions is required for many power projects, whether distributed or central. The Ener-Core Powerstation has the potential to greatly reduce emissions profiles, simplifying compliance and easing permitting in even the most stringent air quality regions.

Advantages of the Ener-Core Powerstation for Emissions-Sensitive Projects:

  • Ultra low emissions designed to meet the most stringent environmental regulations
    • NOx < 1ppmv in Ultra-Low Btu configuration: directly aspirating gas into the gas turbine air inlet
    • NOx, CO, VOC  <1 ppmv achieved in Ultra-Low Emissions configuration: directly injecting gas into Gradual Oxidizer
  • Less complicated permitting process due to reduced emissions output
    • Gradual Oxidizer is designed to be a low Potential to Emit source
  • Possibility to be permitted as a “minor” source versus a “major” source
    • Ultra-Low Emissions configuration targets emissions below the Best Available Control Technology standards for central power plants
  • Designed to eliminate need for post-exhaust treatment system, chemicals and catalysts
    • Gradual Oxidizer process designed to avoid NOx formation and eliminate CO & VOCs using operating temperature (above 1500F) and residence time (over 1 second)
